During the 2020-21 season, the league launched the Reverse Retro alternate jersey program that saw teams use designs from the past with a fresh take on the original look.
The Flames took the opportunity to bring back a true blast from the past.
Known to fans as “Blasty” the fire snorting horse was the featured crest on the team’s alternate jersey introduced in 1998-99. The pattern went on to become the team’s official away jersey during the first years of the 2000s when it was finally left out to pasture at the end of the 2002-03 season.
Blasty made its triumphant return with the Reverse Retro jersey series, mostly due to fan outcry to be brought back.
