The inaugural home jersey for the Flames when they first entered the league in 1980, the “Away Retro” was actually never the team’s road jersey until the 2020-21 season.
The jersey pattern was the club’s home jersey until 1994 when the team changed its white home sweater design completely. It wouldn’t be until a decade later that the league would change to team dark jerseys being the official home jerseys.
This white pattern jersey made its return as the 2019-20 Heritage Classic jersey where Calgary was the away team and finally became the team’s official road jersey when the team returned to its original branding in the 2020-21 season.
